There's a myth that ACDS is just for families from Aspen. Truth is, right from the first-ever day of school in 1970, students came from throughout the valley. Here, latest stats.
How has ACDS grown over time? From 3 students in the first graduating class, the school has had solid enrollment in the past four decades. Now on a path to right-sizing with two sections in each grade, ACDS had a record 208 students in 2014-15 and has full classes with wait pools for spots in many grades.
Where do ACDS students come from? Increasingly, families who live in the RE1 district that serves Basalt, Cabondale and the midvalley are choosing ACDS (42%, up from 35% last year), while enrollment remains strong from inside the Aspen School District.
