We are often asked whether Country Day has any summer programs. Unfortunately we do not! But here are some great options for locals and visitors in the Roaring Fork Valley. You might also want to check out: listings at kidconnector 

Tutoring: all areas, June & August


Christina Schluter, Kindergarten teacher, is available for tutoring June 14 to June 30 as well as in August. Mountain biking camps from AVSC


This summer, Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club instructors is offering more mountain biking instruction than ever. The three-day Beginner/Intermediate Biking sessions run most weeks through July. They're led by AVSC coaches and cover stewardship of public lands, bike maintenance, trail etiquette, and intermediate riding techniques and tactics. Groups ride in the Snowmass bike park and around Snowmass Village. This is ideal practice for ACDS Fourth and Fifth Graders for your fall mountain biking expedition to Western Colorado. Fencing: unleash your inner Olympian!


Come learn to fence this summer! Beginner fencing camps introduce students to this exciting Olympic sport that is as safe as swimming or cross country skiing but that has all the thrill of a duel. All equipment is provided, with options for continuing to an intermediate camp in August and/or classes in the fall. Have fun, build friendships, and unleash your inner Olympian this summer. Camps at the Snowmass Rec Center are for ages 8-18, 9 am to 1 pm every day for all sessions. Celebrate the Beat: Joyful Arts Camp


Designed to foster teamwork, creativity, and joy, this week-long camp from July 23 to July 27 offers daily dance classes with live music, rehearsal and choreography, costume and set design for children ages 7 and up. Fun music lessons with Jan Garrett


Noted local musician Jan Garrett (mom of ACDS's own Annie Garrett!) is now accepting new students.  She teaches piano-by-ear, authentic voice, creative songwriting, and harmony singing to kids and adults. Jan offers a fresh approach to learning - and retaining - lifelong musical skills. Playing by ear is not a mystery. It can be learned in a direct and friendly way when you have the right teacher. Maroon Bel Canto Festival Summer Choir Camp


For rising Fourth to Eighth Graders: learn about vocal techniques, sing in a choir, and perform a finale concert, attend Music Festival rehearsals and meet the artists and students -- an immersion in choral music. Aspen Art Museum


AAM's 2018 summer workshops develop an understanding of contemporary art through fun hands-on projects, gallery explorations, and off-site excursions that culminate in a student exhibition, performance, or party. Theatre Aspen School

Lacrosse camps

Get 12-plus hours of lacrosse-specific training with top coaches this summer at Aspen Lacrosse Club day camps. For girls, the camp is M-Th August 6-9, and for boys it's M-Th August 13-16. Each day will include work on individual skills, teamwork, scrimmages, and games. Camps are open to children in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade and are based at the Aspen Rec Center and Iselin Field. www.aspenlacrosse.org or register here

Snowmass Village Rec Center


The Snowmass Rec Center is a gem - convenient for families living or visiting in Snowmass Village, with a beautiful outdoor pool and skate park. Activities include indoor rock climbing, swimming, hiking, arts & crafts, outdoor activities, gym and field activities, playgrounds, field trips, tennis, volleyball, and much more. Ajax Adventure Camp


Nine weeks filled with 100s of different mountain adventures, including rock climbing, archery, canoeing, rafting, camping, fishing, BMX biking, paddleboarding, marmot tag, skateboarding, paintball, ziplining, aquazorbing, outdoor skills, and many more adventures including wacky additions like Polar Bear Club, fort-building, and even mud-hat making. www.ajaxadventurecamp.com

Red Brick Summer Art Workshops


A central location -- at the Red Brick Center for the Arts on Hallam Street in Aspen -- makes these workshops convenient for families based in town during the summer. Topics range from "Camp Clay" to "Mosaic Madness" and "Mimic the Masters." Call 429-2777 or visit aspenart.org.

Earth Keepers Community Day Camp


Aspen TREE has farmyard experiences, nature discovery, gardening, and arts and crafts day programs for all ages. The Earth Keepers, Jr. family farmyard program is for families with their children 4 and under, and it's on Fridays through the summer. Community day camp (by the day, 3 day, or week at a time) is for 5-11 year olds. All programs are at Aspen TREE "FarmPark" at Cozy Point Ranch. aspen-tree.org/earth-keepers

City of Aspen rec department


The City of Aspen offers busy day camps, along with other activities offered through the summer. There's a track program, summer climbing and gymnastics programs and much more at aspenrecreation.com/summer-camp

Piano lessons, handwriting, and tutoring


Country Day's Lower School Music teacher Kimberly Bakker is offering to work with students in PreK through Fifth Grade for summer music education, handwriting enrichment, and general tutoring. From June 12-August 23, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays. Aspen Kayak Academy

Anderson Ranch Arts Center


Young artists ages 4 to 17 have a whole campus full of artmaking opportunities at their fingertips at this inspiring location in Snowmass Village. There's always something fun happening at the local libraries: reading programs, field trips, story hours, workshops, playdates, and more. Mountain Kids Academy

ACES at Hallam Lake & Rock Bottom Ranch


The Aspen Center for Environmental Studies is abuzz with children's voices and laughter during the summer months. Train Your Brain camps


With just 10 campers per day, and one counselor for every three campers, these camps are for ages 6-14, and are now for boys and girls. Train Your Brain Camp offers horseback riding, expressive arts (including improv theater), and outdoor adventures. There are four-day or five-day sessions throughout the summer.
