Who we are

At any school, it's the teachers, students, parents, alumni, and staff who make the difference. Our school family grows each year, welcoming new friends in the tradition of our school motto: de amicitia - the spirit of friendship. Some current parents were once students here themselves. Some teachers have children who have graduated and come back to canoe on the ponds or chaperone Outdoor Education trips. The sense of family and of a "school home" that children develop here on this remarkable campus -- is part of why Country Day graduates seem so grounded and confident. We are all here to raise children who go on to lives of meaning and purpose. On these pages, meet some of the people who make a difference in the lives of our students -- and of the wider world -- every day.

Everyone has been raving about the cool images from alumnus Tony Prikryl at the Wyly Annex in Basalt. Check out his show  at 174 Midland by November 21. You can also see his work at www.tonyamerica.com
Tony, who was here for Kindergarten through Ninth Grade and graduated from ACDS in 1997, attended Westminster School in Connecticut and Aspen High. He went to UC Boulder for a degree in Film Studies. And yes, Tony is the son of PreK teacher Paula Prikryl and her husband Milan; his two sisters also went to ACDS. We recently asked Tony to answer our 5 favorite questions for alums.

Your best memory of ACDS?
Building ski jumps and snow caves with Huffy on Outdoor Ed.
Favorite teacher?
Shelley Supplee, Huffy, and really, everyone.
How prepared were you for your next level of education?
Very much so, both socially and academically.
Finish the sentence: I am who I am today because ACDS...
. . . laid a solid foundation in community values, high standards of learning both in and out of the classroom, and a respect for the outdoors.
Blue Team or Green Team?
Green all the way.
