On the Journey
news reel: stories of People, places, and learning AT Aspen Country Day School
When Aspen Country Day School alumnae Molly and Sarah Scharlin (graduates of 2014) spent a year studying in Hong Kong, it was an opportunity to travel and see parts of the world they'd never imagined. Also problems they'd never imagined. Several times, they visited Cambodia with their class, volunteering at a child rescue center. "We fell in love with the kids, and have continued to go back and work with them," Molly says.
Upon their return to Aspen, the twin sisters started a club at Aspen High School, telling their friends about the needs they had seen and galvanizing support for the center. Says Molly, "We not only want to continue our relationship with them, but we also want to introduce them to kids from our school."
Thus the Aspen High School Cambodian Child Rescue Center Club was launched. Additional ACDS alumnae who are members: Taylor Reed '14 and Delaney Sinko '14. All four girls are seniors now, and they warmly invite all Aspen Country Day graduates, parents, and students to "Family Movie Night" February 9 at 5:30 pm at the District Theater. They're showing the classic Back to the Future. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students. All proceeds go to benefit children in Cambodia. Hope to see you there!
