On the Journey
news reel: stories of People, places, and learning AT Aspen Country Day School
As we returned this week from the winter break, there was joy and excitement throughout the halls, with smiles all around. I hope all of you and your children had time to relax, unplug, spend time with family and friends and enjoy the time away from our busy everyday lives.
It has been an action-packed fall, and as we close the doors on 2017, I am grateful for this wonderful community. First, I want to thank our teachers for everything that they do to make the Aspen Country Day School experience special for each individual child. They are always thinking about bettering the program, and they truly love their students. Even today, I was reminded that work was done over break as teachers started report cards, graded exams, planned lessons for second semester, shoveled the snow off the ponds, had the buses inspected, and came with a smile to greet children on the first day back.
Second, I want to thank you, the parents. Your commitment and love for the school are evident every day as you trust us with your most prized possessions, your children. Whether volunteering at lunch, participating in mindfulness sessions, helping out with the PIE parent association, annual fund, or class events, we are grateful for all that you do.
Lastly, I want to acknowledge all of the hard work and dedication that the students show us every day. From PreK through Eighth Grade, we ask a lot of our kids, and they respond. Many this season will be balancing hockey, skiing, theater, boarding school applications, sister cities applications, outdoor ed trips, etc. Let's not forget that there always needs to be time to connect as a family. Being with one another and engaging over dinner, during a car ride, on the gondola is important. This is one of the great joys and opportunities of living in Aspen, take advantage of it!
I wish all of you a healthy and happy new year,
