On the Journey
news reel: stories of People, places, and learning AT Aspen Country Day School
Monthly update from Head of School Josh Wolman
I'm happy to be in touch with the first of my monthly letters to the school community for the coming academic year. Over the last two months I have often been asked, "How is your summer?" My response continues to be, "terrific." This is the time of year that we all recharge, reenergize, rest, relax, and pursue fun things connected to Aspen and Country Day as well as taking a break from the norm.
On campus the leadership team has been tackling administrative tasks for the fall, including scheduling, handbook revisions, curriculum updates and documentation, touring new families, and working on the audit, to name a few. The Castle Creek renovation project is on schedule and the new classrooms will be ready for the first day of school. As for the offices, the plan continues to be to move in October 1st, so we will be in the Foreman's House at the end of the turf field for the remainder of the summer and for September.
I want to thank everyone for their incredibly generous support of Aspen Country Day School. This past year's Annual Fund, led by Johnanna Hoeffner and Maura Bradshaw, saw a record number of donors to the school, with a schoolwide family participation rate of 90% to go along with 100% participation from our faculty and Board. This is a remarkable feat, and it speaks to the tremendous support we enjoy throughout our school community.
Let me also thank Brandy McAniff for her leadership of the PIE parent association. With the dedication and support of all the grade ambassadors, the partnership of the school and its parents is a hallmark of ACDS.
There is so much to look forward to this year. If you are in town next Tuesday, I hope you will join me and my team for our Community Hike at 9:30 am at Smuggler. Best wishes for the rest of the summer.
