What's more disruptive: snow day or sick day?
Posted 03/07/2016 07:23AM

What's the impact of snow days on learning? An alumna recently called our attention to a fascinating study from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. It turns out: "Schools and teachers are well prepared to deal with the coordinated disruptions caused by snow days—much more so than they are to handle the less dramatic but more frequent disruptions caused by poor student attendance."

Translation for parents and children: don't worry about falling behind in class because of a snow day; just make sure to be present every day school is in session. Read the study here: http://educationnext.org/defense-snow-days/
