Learn Outside the Bubble

As we complete our monumental facilities upgrade, we focus on ensuring that Aspen Country Day School always offers a world-class program to match our award-winning campus. As our mission states, ACDS is committed to helping children discover and develop their own sense of purpose and responsible citizenship. We want to foster the global literacy and 21st century skills your children will need in an increasingly complex and connected world. Here are some ways Aspen Country Day School students are "learning outside the bubble" of Aspen and our small valley.

Partnership: World Leadership School

This well established, visionary organization has designed a custom program for our rising Eighth Graders. The class will travel, together with teachers from ACDS and leaders from the World Leadership School, to the Sacred Valley of Peru in June 2016. This Collaborative Leadership Program is a life-changing experience where students from different cultures learn and work together at a rural partner school in a carefully chosen location. It will improve our students' understanding of leadership and nurture their ability to see the world from different perspectives. More about the Peru program for summer 2016

Partnership: Hybrid Learning Consortium

Want to study Chinese, Latin, or even American Sign Language? Ready to tackle Honors Geometry or explore coding in more depth? Aspen Country Day School has joined the Hybrid Learning consortium to offer Middle School students the opportunity not just to take an online class, but to develop the important life skill of "learning to learn online." This year, ACDS students are taking HLC courses -- with actual teachers and peers at schools around the world -- such as Foundations in Latin, Introduction to CAD, and Chinese. There are many other courses open to our students, such as Understanding Law in Your World, Globally Awake: introduction to global studies, or Digital Filmmaking. More about the consortium

Partnership: Aspen Sister Cities

For many years, ACDS students have been among the most enthusiastic participants in the student exchanges that are organized by the Aspen Sister Cities committee. Each year, our Seventh Graders may apply to participate in homestay exchanges with children at schools in Bariloche, Argentina; Chamonix, France; Shimukappu, Japan; and Abetone, Italy.
