Financial Aid instructions
Aspen Country Day School strives to make an independent education financially accessible for as many families as possible. We maximize and allocate our available funds to leverage the most effective and equitable distribution of tuition assistance. However, our budget for financial aid is not unlimited. Funds may not be available to cover the need requested.
How to apply for financial aid
The priority consideration, please complete your application by the dates below
- Current families: December 16, 2019
- New candidates: February 7, 2020
STEP #1: Complete the TADS financial aid worksheet
All families are expected to contribute, to the best of their ability, to their children's education. To determine the most equitable and appropriate share of tuition, we use TADS. This is a secure, third-party service used by independent schools nationwide. TADS evaluates the information you provide and determines how much a family could be reasonably expected to contribute to tuition. The worksheet will prepare you to answer the questions online; we strongly encourage you to complete it before logging in to TADS to start your application for aid.
STEP #2: Complete the TADS online application
Click here to start your financial aid application. Please provide all the information requested, in addition to uploading any documents requested. An application is not considered complete until all portions of the application are completed.
Questions? TADS offers customer support. Use the online chat function, email email@example.com, or call 800.477.8237/612.548.3320 Monday-Friday, 8:00am-8:00pm CMT.
STEP #3: Provide your prior-year tax returns via TADS
All those applying for aid are required to submit a signed copy of the parents’ form 1040 and all schedules, a copy of W-2 forms, and K-1 forms (if applicable). You will need to scan your tax returns and upload them to the secure TADS site.
STEP #4: By April 15: Provide your most recent tax return via TADS
These also get uploaded to the secure TADS site. All financial aid awards are provisional and are confirmed only after review of the signed tax returns for the fiscal year that started in the current academic year. For example, applicants for the 2019-2020 school year would submit 2018 returns filed in the first quarter of 2019.
Be on time: Families who miss any of these deadlines will not receive priority consideration by the School’s financial aid committee. We continue to accept completed financial aid applications on a rolling basis, and awards may be made at any time if funds remain available.
Honor confidentiality: Aspen Country Day School assesses the financial aid needs of each family with thoughtful and fair evaluations of that family’s unique situation. The process and outcome are confidential. We do not share a family’s financial aid information with anyone outside our financial aid committee, which includes only the Director of Admission & Financial Aid, the Head of School, and possibly the school's business office. Whether a family is receiving financial aid or not, we require that all financial aid matters and awards remain private and confidential. Please do not offer details of your situation, nor inquire of others’ information.
